As part of the University’s commitment to ensure our electrical network remains at its peak and meets our safety obligations, compliance testing will be done on the approximately 10,000 RCD (commonly referred to as safety switches) units across Bedford Park campus.

The units will be tested during the end-of-year teaching break to minimise disruption to students and staff.

From Monday 17 Dec 2018 through to Wednesday 16 January 2019, brief localised power outages, varying from 30 seconds to 2 minutes each, have been planned.

This will not affect personnel lifts or air conditioning. There will be no impact on remote access, servers and IT, as data centres are supported via UPS. Emergency lighting will also be in place.

It is advised to regularly (auto) save your work on computers prior to the brief outages.
