Spread the word on scholarships

Staff are encouraged to remind students about scholarship opportunities, including the University’s new scholarships for students in financial need; opportunities through the Australian Federation of University Women (AFUW); and those assisting rural students such as the Wattle Range Council scholarships specifically for Flinders students.

Flinders University Student Impact scholarships

Applications are now open for the Flinders University Student Impact Scholarships, which were established through the generosity of alumni and friends who donated to the Scholarship Fund.  These scholarships are for continuing domestic coursework students who have completed at least 36 units of study at Flinders University. They are worth $5000 for one year.

Applications should be submitted through the Student System by the closing date of 13 March 2019.

Women’s scholarships

This year’s scholarships offered by the AFUW are the largest in the association’s scholarship history and, unlike previous years, are available solely to women. Applicants must be studying at a South Australian institution, and they must also be an Australian citizens or permanent resident. Most opportunities are open to any study area, with two $5,000 scholarships available for doctoral students, two scholarships of $3,000 for Masters research students, and smaller scholarships dentistry students.

Applications close on 29 March 2019. More information and application details can be found on the association’s website.

Wattle Range Council scholarships

Wattle Range Council, a region that covers a large area of the South East of the State, has announced that it will be continuing its Flinders University scholarships for rural students, for atleast the next four years.

The council’s ‘Flinders University Hon. Terry Roberts MLC Memorial’ student scholarship, which dates back to 2007, will be changing this year to offer two annual scholarships of $2,500 rather than up to five scholarships of $1,000 each. The scholarships will be open shortly to students from the Wattle Range area, who are commencing undergraduate study.

Information on internal scholarship opportunities can be found on the University’s scholarships webpage.
