NVI bursts into ’19 with global gusto

It’s shaping up to be a high-impact year for the Flinders University’s New Venture Institute (NVI), as the team prepares for another exhilarating tour of the US while spreading its entrepreneurial influence further with a high-tech Berlin mission and NVI’s first start-up course outside South Australia.

Known for its eclectic markets and entrepreneurial zest, NVI’s flagship Venture Dorm program will be right at home in Byron Bay, where a new partnership with a regional cluster will bring its proven enterprise expertise into NSW.

Sourdough Business Pathways is bringing the first NVI-powered ‘Sourdough Pre-accelerator Program’ to regional NSW, where the program is set to commence on February 26 2019. A second intake will follow later in the year. The intensive eight-week program will include all the training, mentoring and practical components that have made its twin, Venture Dorm, so popular and effective in building over 400 SA startups.

Next on its bursting early-year calendar, will be NVI’s flagship US start-up tour in early March, eNVI.US. Again, this trip will see winning Venture Dormers accompanied by paid participants visit San Francisco, the SXSW festival in Austin, and New York. Delegates will encounter the newest trends and cutting edge technology at SXSW, and engage with some of Silicone Valley and New York’s most successful ventures as they explore opportunities that could help their businesses soar.

Hot on the heels of the US tour, NVI will team up with Austrade to co-host the Hannover Messe Mission from 23 March, exposing select Australian manufacturing businesses to some of the world’s most advanced industrial innovators.

The mission will include an intense five-day boot camp that is designed to see rapid scale-ups taking advantage of new technologies and business models. It’s the first time Flinders’ renowned innovation incubator has been involved with the annual high-tech event, after being hand-picked by Austrade to help select the twelve winning businesses who will attend the mission.

The successful delegates will network with businesses, entrepreneurs, accelerators, incubators and venture capitalist firms as they attend the Hannover Messe 2019 Trade Fair, the world’s leading trade fair for industrial technology. The annual event showcases the hottest new technologies and business models, and this year includes 6000 exhibits, 1400 events with 220000 expected visitors.

Details on the NVI’s upcoming events and opportunities can be found on its website.
