Digital doc tracks milestones

Last year Flinders became the first university in Australia to adopt SkillForge’s digital student candidature system for higher degrees by research (HDR) students – Inspire. Now a recent upgrade means all HDR milestones can be managed in this fully integrated system.

Tracking and entering milestones is a valuable feature of Inspire. An important element of this transparent system is its efficient, automated digital workflow that  keeps all stakeholders informed.  HDR milestones that can be managed in the system include:

  • confirmation of candidature
  • mid-candidature review
  • interim review(s), for part-time students
    • interim confirmation of candidature
    • interim mid-candidature review
    • interim final thesis review
  • final thesis review
  • post-final thesis review, for students still enrolled 6 months after their final review

The Flinders Digital Research Services team and the Office of Graduate Research thank HDR students and supervisors for their patience while transitioning from the previous milestone submission system – RHD Research Excellence (REX) – which is still available for current thesis examination submissions.

The Office of Graduate Research has been in touch with HDR students who have upcoming milestones. The team is also providing hands-on training for students and their supervisors, to ensure everyone is confident with the transition. Workshops are available until the end of February 2019 and can be booked through the Inspire Milestone Workshop page.

Find out more about Inspire and its introduction at Flinders via the dedicated webpage, or direct any questions to the HDR Progression Team in the Office of Graduate Research.
