Prepping for a stellar year

Flinders University has a wide range of resources to help teachers as they prepare for the 2019 academic year.

Readings

Need help with your Readings list or navigating the new Readings system? Contact the Learning Access team via the Readings query in Service One for help. Links to the new system can be found in FLO sites, click here for the help guide.

Resources for teaching

The Copyright Librarian can assist with identifying openly licensed and copyright compliant educational resources, for example audio, images, video and apps to supplement teaching material. Enquire about copyright for teaching material via Service One.

Textbooks

Use the official University textbook form to notify the library and Co-Op bookshop of your required and recommended textbook needs. A link is also in your FLO topics (Topic links block). Contact the Learning Access team for help.

FLO

Need help applying your magic to update your FLO site before students get access (exactly one week before the topic starts)? Take a look at the Preparing for teaching in FLO site, or this handy checklist that lists the essential tasks to do in your FLO site before students have access. If you need design advice, you can book a session with the Learning Designer in your college. Alternatively, contact eLearning Support via Service One.

Teaching practice and topic design

The Academic Development team can help translate teaching ideas into a solid teaching plan for a topic and how you teach it. Visit the Learning and Teaching pages or contact CILT to speak with an academic developer. You could also come along to one of their workshops, most of which are available across campuses via video-conference or Collaborate on request.

Library familiarisation for students

Library sessions help students familiarise with the Library and can be tailored to a specific assignment. They can come to your classroom, bring your class to the library or embed this help in FLO.  For more ideas on what’s possible, visit the showcase topic in FLO. Contact us via Service One using the form Embedding library skills in my topic (under Education Services).
