SA’s rising tide of screen talent

Nominations for the 2019 South Australian Screen Awards (SASA) have been announced, with an impressive list of Flinders University graduates prominent across the many categories.

The awards, which are this year celebrating the 20th anniversary of recognising excellence in the local screen industry, are run by not-for-profit organisation the Media Resource Centre and have provided a valuable springboard in the development of South Australia’s emerging young screen practitioners.

Flinders University alumni nominations are detailed below. They come in the wake of SASA success last year for graduate Josiah Allen, who won Best Sound Design for Small Town P.D., which he co-directed with fellow Flinders Screen graduate Indianna Bell. They went on to be finalists this year in Tropfest (Australia’s celebrated short movie festival) with their film Safe Space, which has been nominated for several SASA prizes this year.

The ceremony for the 2019 SASAs will be held at the Mercury Cinema in Adelaide on April 18.
