Conjuring sense from the spin

Still trying to make sense of the important issues ahead of Saturday’s deadline? Flinders’ astute political wizards are presenting talks from Aldinga to the Port, hills and right here on campus in the lead-up to election day.

Associate Professor Hayden Manning will try to bring some clarity to the Australian political landscape when he presents an informative question and answer session at the Port Adelaide Library from 6pm-7.30pm on Wednesday 15 May. ‘Pizza and Politics – Cut Through the Nonsense and Get the Inside Story on Government’ will cover a broad sweep of political issues, and the session will conclude with an informal chat and free pizza for the audience.

Earlier in the day, Associate Professor Manning will be speaking about the looming election at the Aldinga Community Centre at 2pm on Wednesday 15 May, hosted by the Aldinga U3A.

He will also join Dr Rob Manwaring to deliver a talk at Flinders University, outlining the election campaign’s key themes and prospects, at Social Sciences North Lecture Theatre 3, from 12:30pm-2pm on Thursday 16 May.

Associate Professor Rodrigo Praino is chairing a business and community forum for the electorate of Boothby at Blackwood Uniting Church at 7pm on Tuesday 14 May (tonight). This debate among the candidates for Boothby, organised by the Blackwood Business Network, will also provide an opportunity for the general public to submit questions to the candidates in advance.
