An exciting new series of talks from prominent Australian and international philosophers is offering a unique opportunity for wide-ranging reflection on the challenges of the present – and the perennial questions of the past.
An initiative of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, the 2019 Continental Philosophy Seminar Series explores continental philosophy. This branch is characterised by a holistic, undogmatic and systematic style of thinking about human experience and its place in the world by critically engaging with the metaphysical, religious, ethical, political and aesthetic ideas that compose society’s varied traditions.
In confronting the major challenges of today, whether political instability, economic inequality, ecological catastrophe or the reconciliation of cultural differences, it is vital to preserve a space of philosophical reflection and investigation where new ideas can be explored.
