3MT finalists are also winners

College of Nursing and Health Sciences PhD candidate Jennifer Baldock is the winner of this year’s Flinders 3MT competition.

She took out top honours at yesterday’s event organised by the Office of Graduate Research.

Fellow College of Nursing and Health Sciences entry, Matthew Iasiello, was runner-up, as adjudicated by Flinders PhD alumni Dr Heather Holmes-Ross (Mayor, City of Mitcham), Dr Adam Paterson (Curator, SA Maritime Museum) and Dr Antony Sheehan (Chief Scientific Officer, TGR BioSciences).

Livestreaming of the popular Flinders University Three-Minute Thesis grand final led to a resounding win for People’s Choice Welmince Djulete, from the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work, with online voting supported by more than 80 people in attendance at Health Science lecture theatre.

Held in more than 600 universities across 65 countries, the 3MT is a global competition that celebrates and supports the communication of academic research.

The winner won $2000, runner-up $1000, People’s Choice $500, and Flinders University Postgraduate Student Association donated $100 book voucher for all other finalists.

Ms Baldock is now in contention to travel to the University of Queensland for the Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition on 4 October.  All finalist presentations can be seem online.

The recording will be edited into individual finalist presentations, along with their profiles, testimonials and career objectives https://students.flinders.edu.au/my-course/hdr/development/three-minute-thesis
