Join respiratory rehab professor for coffee

Flinders and SALHN are hosting a visit from Professor Rik Gosselink on Tuesday 15 October, who is an expert in physiotherapy and rehabilitation for patients with pulmonary disease.

Professor Gosselink is a clinician and academic at KU Leuven in Belgium. He is currently evaluating clinical tools for the assessment of muscle strength, and the effectiveness of training methods for respiratory and limb muscles in patients with acute critical illness, or chronic pulmonary disease.

In Adelaide for a national physiotherapy conference, Professor Gosselink is an invited speaker on the topic of inspiratory muscle training and new approaches to physiotherapy for surgical patients.

He has published more than 150 papers in peer reviewed journals and 50 book chapters and books.

Staff working in medical or allied health professions who share a research or clinical interest are invited to meet the professor at an open ‘drop in’ café session on 15 October from 11.00-11.30am, at the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer (FCIC) coffee lounge.
