Event frames special issue literary publication

A special issue of the open access, refereed publication ‘Across the Disciplines’ has been devoted to case studies and learnings from a symposium held at Flinders University that explored literary support and writing across the curriculum.

Co-edited by Associate Professor Karen Orr Vered, the special issue of the publication is subtitled ‘From the Margins to the Centre: Writing Across the Curriculum in Australia and New Zealand’.

It is an outcome of the one-day event ‘From the Margins to the Centre: The Future of University Literacy Support and Writing across the Curriculum’ that was held in 2016.

Case studies in the publication explore how a theoretical or pedagogical approach has been implemented in the Australasian context.

A co-authored piece by Dr Sandra Egege and Professor Orr Vered explores how students’ critical thinking can be developed within disciplinary teaching, as a feature of normative tutorial discourse.
