Remembrance service and program launch

Flinders University staff are invited to save the date for a Remembrance Day Service and launch of the University’s new Military Academic Pathway Program (MAPP).

The service will be presented by Lt General and Professor Peter Leahy AC, Chair of the Australian Student Veterans Association and Director of the National Security Institute, University of Canberra.

Those who have served in past conflicts and those serving today will be acknowledged, with one minute’s silence observed at 11am. Students, staff and their families are welcome to attend.

The new four-week Military Academic Pathway Program is a preparation program open to eligible military veterans that enables them to transition to university studies.

The program will help students develop independent learning skills and prepare for university study, after which they may seek careers in the defence sector or other industries as desired.

Commencing November 4 2019, the MAPP will be offered on campus at Flinders University Bedford Park. The program is supported by a $157,000 Supporting Younger Veterans grant, from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
