External events harness Flinders experts

Associate Professor Dr Rachel Popelka-Filcoff will present at ABC National’s Ockham’s Razor podcast live in South Australia on 21 November while Dr Priyambudi Sulistiyanto will speak on a panel the same day exploring Indonesian business. Both events are free to attend.

Ochre routes on Ockam’s

Ockham’s Razor features short talks by researchers, industry representatives or policy contributors who have a compelling story on science to share.

Associate Professor Rachel Popelka-Filcoff’s topic is understanding routes of ochre exchange by using analytical chemistry methods. She will talk about her work using nuclear spectroscopy to examine the origins of ochres used in Aboriginal objects to help develop an understanding of the routes of ochre exchange.

Her work is currently funded by an ARC Discovery grant to develop new provenance methods of ochre through integrating chemical and genomic methods.

The podcast will feature five speakers, and will be held at UniSA’s Mod, Cancer Research Institute Building on North terrace. Other topics featuring in the podcast include:

  • Medicine in space
  • Native crops and your gut

Indonesian business update 

Dr Sulistiyanto will be presenting at the Australia Indonesia Business Council’s update, also on 21 November.

Co-hosted by Flinders University Jembatan, topics for the panel will include:

  • overview of President Jokowi’s new cabinet and trade and investment planning portfolio
  • snapshot of Indonesia’s growing economy and potential market opportunity for Australian businesses
  • security and risk measures around operating a business in Indonesia

Associate Professor Paul Burke from Australia National University and Asian business analyst Ian Betts will join Dr Sulistiyanto in the discussion event, to be held at Flinders University Victoria Square.
