Works at and around Flinders during uni break

A number of works are occurring at Bedford Park from now through to Semester 1 2020, including to the Health, Counselling and Disability Service and new solar canopies for car park 1. Staff are also advised to keep an eye on traffic changes as the Darlington project progresses.

Location changes for Health, Counselling and Disability Service

From Monday 25 November to mid-February 2020 some of these services will be relocated while the lift is replaced in the Student Centre. During this time, the lift will be unavailable and access to levels 1 and 3 will be via the stairs.

While this work occurs, please access the following services in the Union building basement rooms B10 – B10 D:

  • The temporary reception area for Health, Counselling and Disability Service
  • An emergency treatment room
  • A GP and a counsellor for people who aren’t able to use the stairs in the Student Centre
  • Our Disability Service. This service will remain permanently in this location.

Visitors will need to go to the temporary reception in the Union basement prior to all appointments. Once assessed they will either be:

  • Treated in one of the temporary consulting rooms in the Union basement, or
  • Redirected to the Student Centre’s regular consulting room on level 3 of the Student Centre via the stairs.

The online appointments booking system will not be available at this time. Please make appointments by calling 8201 2118 or visiting the reception desk located in the Union Basement from 8.45am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

There are no changes to out-of-hours crisis support: Call 1300 512 409 or text 0488 884 103, weekdays 5pm – 9am, weekends and public holidays – 24 hours.

There may be some temporary pedestrian diversions while the work occurs – please follow all directional signage in place.

In mid-February 2020, once the lift has been replaced, Health and Counselling will move back to level 3 of the Student Centre. Disability Service will remain permanently in the Union building basement in rooms B10 – B10 D. Please call 8201 2118 for any queries.

Permanent change of location for Disability Service

From Monday 25 November, Flinders’ Disability Service will permanently relocate to the Union building basement in rooms B10 – B10 D (campus map reference J10).

The Union building is located opposite and to the east of the Student Services building. Our opening hours and contact details will remain the same:

Open: 8:45am – 5pm, Monday to Friday

Telephone 8201 2118 or email disability@flinders.edu.au

Solar canopies and other works coming soon…

From Monday 25 November there are a number of projects commencing in and around car park 1 and the Student Centre. These include building new solar canopies, the replacement of the Student Centre lift, the replacement of some cement panels on the Student Centre and some sewer replacement works.

The top level of car park 1 will be temporarily closed from Monday 25 November and will reopen as soon as possible. The middle and lower levels of car park 1 will remain open, with all pedestrian access from car park 1 via the stairs next to the Sport Centre. The pedestrian ramps from car park 1 to the Hub and Biology will be temporarily unavailable.

If car park 1 is full, please follow the parking signs to the next available car park (try car parks 9 and 3). Mobile signage will be in place before you reach car park 1 to provide the latest information.

As part of Flinders’ sustainability initiatives solar canopies will be installed in car parks 1, 2 and north of the footbridge. These fantastic canopies will charge built-in batteries in the seating to power phone charging points and lighting with clean, renewable solar energy. The solar canopies in car parks 1 and 2 will also feature large poster boards. Works will take place:

  • Car park 2 (near the main pedestrian path to campus) – 11 November to 16 December 2019
  • North of the footbridge – 11 November to 16 December 2019
  • Both carpark 1 canopies – 25 November to 20 December 2019.

Throughout the break, please follow all safety and directional signage in car park 1 and around the Student Centre. Thanks for your patience as these improvements are made to campus during the end of year break.
