Sydney performance for enduring partnership

Following the  March 2019 release of Robyn Archer’s Classic Cabaret Rarities CD and an August concert with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Robyn Archer, Emeritus Professor Michael Morley and George Butrumlis presented their American cabaret show The Other Great American Songbook in Sydney on November 21.

The performance took place at City Recital Hall, Angel Place, and rounded out a trio of cabarets presented at the venue over the past two years. These have included a French program covering songs from Le Chat Noir, Piaf, Trenet, through to  Léo Ferré and Jacques Brel, and was followed by a German recital featuring a selection of songs from Ms Archer’s recent CD and others.

Many translations for the programs were completed by Emeritus Professor Morley, who also researched the background to the repertoire and identified new and unfamiliar songs for inclusion.

Robyn Archer has an Honorary Doctorate from Flinders, and has been working with Emeritus Professor Morley on material since 1977.
