Joblink connects to O’Week

The series of annual Joblink Summits – flagship events of Flinders’ Careers and Employability program - are fast approaching with a diverse range of industry employers coming on campus to interact with our students and recent graduates.

Aligned to the College of Business, Government and Law, the College of Science and Engineering, the College of Humanities, Arts and the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work, the Joblink Summits offer industries the opportunity to connect with a large number of students and recent graduates across many degree areas.

The South Australian Government has signed on as major sponsor across three Joblink Summits for the third consecutive year, providing attendees with an invaluable insight into the public service – being the state’s largest employer – as well as identifying career pathways across state government departments and agencies.

The conference-style Joblink Summits were introduced in 2018, replacing the old-fashioned career expo model. They allow potential employers to address all attendees in a conference-style format before hosting smaller information sessions with interested students.

This year, two Joblink Summits have been included in the O’Week program of events, so they are more accessible to students with competing priorities and better align with the graduate recruitment cycle.

“By presenting these key events earlier in the year, we are increasing the offering of orientation activities for continuing students and give commencing students something to keep in mind as they progress through their degree here at Flinders,” says Flinders University Employer Activation lead, Morgan Whiffen.

“In 2019, 90% of students who attended a Joblink Summit felt better informed about their career options, and industry attendees commented on the improved quality of conversations with students.

Joblink Summits are highly relevant to penultimate, final year students, and recent graduates. Staff are welcome to attend, and we strongly encourage those who interact with students in their penultimate and final years of study to promote these annual events to take advantage of this opportunity to make valuable connections with employers.

Students and recent graduates can register for the Joblink Summits on CareerHub via OKTA.
