Service improvement updates

The Service Review project initiated in late 2018 identified 20 high-impact service improvement priorities at Flinders University. With much headway made, improvement processes are continuing with updates available through the Service Review webpage on the staff portal.

The priority improvement areas identified were selected based on 17 workshops held with 429 individual participants and a Professional Services Survey in 2019, with 1049 respondents. While the 20 areas selected are not an exhaustive list of improvements underway or planned, they represent the highest priorities identified by our University community.

As at the end of last year, process improvements were underway in two thirds of the identified areas through existing projects. These were informed, or have been enhanced, by feedback received through the Service Review. The remaining projects are being initiated and updates will be provided as they progress.

The FAN-protected Service Review webpage lists the full priority areas and will be updated with progress.

In addition to identifying improvement areas, the value of training in process improvement was highlighted. Accordingly, a suite of improvement courses has now been developed and is available to interested staff through ienrol (see business improvement courses).

The Professional Services Survey will continue to run on a regular basis to support the University’s continuous improvement. The next survey is scheduled for later this semester.

Engagement with this important initiative has been excellent and staff are thanked for their key role in providing the feedback needed. Remember to visit the Service Review webpage for updates on projects (or to contact the project team.)
