Vigil to honour nurses and midwives

Today is International Day of the Nurse, and to mark this significant occasion – having such poignancy in the midst of exceptional frontline care being performed during the COVID-19 pandemic – Flinders University’s nursing and midwifery academics will gather at Sturt campus at sunset to conduct a respectful candlelight vigil.

Flinders nursing staff at Renmark are also taking part by conducting their own ceremony to help show support for colleagues at the coalface of COVID-19 treatment and patient care.

All Flinders University staff and students are invited to take part by conducting a private vigil from their homes, to ensure reduced social contact during the continuing COVID-19 restrictions.

The vigil will begin at 5:45pm and participants will stand with a candle to honour nurses and midwives around the world who have lost their lives while treating and caring for COVID-19 patients.
