Supporting tourism to tackle the future

The tourism industry has an enormous task ahead as it adapts to a world emerging from COVID-19. With players big and small comprising this vital sector, the Flinders New Venture Institute and partners are helping them rise to the challenge – empowering operators to understand the big technology picture and adopt developments made possible by emerging trends.

Run by FOMENT, ‘When Tourism Meets Tech’ is a three-session series designed to equip tourism operators with the combined knowledge and projections from the people behind the technology that is poised to change the industry for the better.

Now more than ever, technology has the power to reinforce Australia’s tourism industry and help it thrive in an uncertain future.

The sessions will be delivered via a carefully constructed online format designed for maximum audience interaction, including short talks from speakers, a zoom workshop and a panel discussion and Q&A. Running over three weeks the cost is just $50 for all three sessions.

Speakers at the first event include representatives from Expedia Group, Australia Tourism Data Warehouse and Twenty Five Doors. View the event page to find out more, share, or register to attend the first session (May 27, 4- 5pm.)

FOMENT is a partnership between Flinders University’s New Venture Institute, Hydra Consulting and Wine Industry Suppliers Australia and is sponsored by Wine Australia and Barossa Australia.

Together with building Australia’s wine and tourism sectors, FOMENT’s industry and academic expertise is helping inform and support Flinders University’s new International Business program in wine, spirits and tourism.
