A new competition is inviting Flinders University students of all year levels to express mathematics through photography or visual art.
The Flinders University Mathematics and Statistics Society is hosting ‘The Art of Mathematics: Mathematics is Everywhere’, competition to celebrate mathematics and its prominence in science and society.
Open for entries this month from 1 to 31 August, the competition engages students with the mathematical sciences and highlights the inherent creativity of maths.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to explore and engage with the maths all around us, and staff are welcome to share the opportunity with their students.
Artwork could be photographs or digital art inspired by mathematics noticed on the way to university, work or around the house.
Prizes on offer include an instant camera, drawing tablet and JB HiFi vouchers.
