R U OK Day this Thursday

This Thursday 10 September is R U OK? Day, reminding us to reach out to those around us and start a conversation with anyone who may need support.

The message for 2020 is ‘There’s more to say after R U OK?’ and the R U OK? website has a range of resources including the signs someone may not be coping, how to ask if they are OK, and tips on listening or showing support.

Activities on campus

Several staff teams around the University have organised small gatherings to mark the day in line with COVID-19 restrictions, while a range of student activities will take place on Thursday across main campus, including:

  • R U Ok? Day events from 11.30am to 1.30pm in the Plaza and the café area at Sturt, hosted by Oasis and the Flinders University Student Association (FUSA)
  • A panel discussion in the Plaza at midday, with representatives from Flinders Health Counselling & Disability Services, FUSA, Yunggorendi and Student Experience
  • An R U OK? lunch event at Alere as part of DocFest celebrations

Don’t forget that support is available through Flinders University’s Employee Assistance Program to staff members. The University also maintains an annual Health and Wellbeing Program including seminars and monthly activities.
