Screen Awards success for Flinders alumni

Flinders alumni and students excelled in the 2020 South Australian Screen Awards, which saw prizes worth $35,000 to support and celebrate South Australia’s early career creatives across 21 screen categories.

The presentation of the 22nd South Australian Screen Awards was an online ceremony on 4 December hosted by Mercury CX, underlining the commitment that Mercury CX has in showcasing and celebrating emerging SA screen talent.

Awards for Genre categories included drama, comedy, documentary, animation and music video, while all aspects of screen craft were represented, including acting, hair and makeup styling, editing, cinematography, writing, directing and producing.

Winners who have come through Flinders’ Creative Arts courses were:

Best Comedy: Goodbye Stranger, Producer: Morgan Wright (BCreatArts(DigitalMedia ‘20), Writer/Director: Conor McCarron  (BCreatArts(Screen) ’14).

Best Student Production: A-Mos, Writer/Producer/Director: Fraser Whitehead (current student).

Best Editing: David Scarborough (BCreatArts ’07, BCreatArts(Hons) ’09)  – Ice Ball. 

Carclew Young Filmmaker Award: Emma Hough Hobbs (BCreatArts(DigitalMedia ‘18).

Independent Art Foundation Emerging Producer Award: Simon Williams (BCreatArts ’10)  and Brendon Skinner (BCreatArts ’10).
