Assemblage awards honours scholarships

Creative and Performing Arts Honours students Duncan Vecchiarelli and Rhys Stewart are the recipients of the first Assemblage ATAM (Adelaide Theatre and More) Honours scholarships.

Worth $5000 each, the scholarships have been granted by the Assemblage panel through the generous support of Adelaide Theatre and More, as a means of helping the study ambitions of two outstanding young arts practitioners who are pursuing exciting next directions in arts creativity and delivery.

Duncan Vecchiarelli (BA ’21) is a passionate and enthusiastic performing artist with a broad range of experiences, skills and a strong academic record. The application distinctly outlined Duncan’s desire not only to participate in the performing arts, but also to experiment in creating original, contemporary and hybrid works.

Rhys Stewart  (BCreatArts(Drama) ’21) is an ambitious performing artist with a passion for acting, and a desire to create their own work as a director, writer, dramaturg, and designer. Rhys has already demonstrated some initial success, being hired by the State Theatre Company South Australia for the Decameron 2.0 project, as well as achieving an accomplished academic record. Rhys has a strong connection to Adelaide and South Australia, with a desire to pursue local opportunities, while also looking at ways to blend traditional acting methodologies with new digital mediums.
