College retreat reveals refreshed branding

The College of Medicine and Public Health’s three-day retreat last week was developed around the themes of accountability, honesty and respect, and the 170 attendees represented the breadth of Flinders activities along the Central Australian Corridor.

After reflecting on the College’s current performance in education, research, and people and culture, the College planned a renewed strategy for 2021.
A highlight of the retreat was an inspirational RAP session, hosted by Associate Professor Simone Tur, with personal reflections and stories from College staff including Dr Maree Meredith, Kath Martin, Dr Courtney Ryder, Laura Spencer, and Roland Wilson.

Day three of the retreat had a specific focus on the College’s Rural and Remote Health activities along the Central Australian Corridor, with Professor Robyn Aitken, Deputy Dean Rural and Remote Health, leading discussions on future planning for each site regarding the themes of education, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health, research, and partnerships.

Refreshed branding for Rural and Remote Health SA & NT was also officially launched, to demonstrate Flinders’ unique and extensive footprint along the Central Australian Corridor, the importance and contribution of each of our sites, and how all efforts are integral to the activities of the College and Flinders University.

You can read more about the refreshed branding on the College blog, and also download artwork for Rural and Remote Health SA & NT email signatures.

Continuing the flow of medical-related information, the new director of FHMRI, Professor Peter Eastwood, will host the FHMRI Molecular Biosciences Seminar at the FMC Lecture Theatre 1 and online via MS Teams at noon on Wednesday 24 March (refer to FHMRI Calendar for link or contact fhmri@flinders.edu.au). Professor Eastwood, who joined the Flinders community in November 2020 as the Director of FHMRI and Dean Research (read his Flinders In Touch profile story here) is also a Matthew Flinders Fellow who has made substantial contributions to research and leadership in the fields of sleep disorders and chronic lung disease. He has a broad global collaboration network, and his research expertise spans the areas of sleep disorders, sleep apnoea, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic lung disease and epidemiology.
