Promote the trial to help manage insomnia

Researchers at the Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health, with support from the Flinders Foundation and Flinders University, recently started a trial to improve the management of insomnia in Australian General Practice.

This trial aims to provide General Practitioners throughout Australia with a digital pathway to manage insomnia according to GP guideline recommendations.

GPs throughout Australia will be able to access a software-assisted pathway that will help them identify patients with probable insomnia, create prompts with GP-guideline tools and information, and generate an option to refer patients to Sleepio.

Sleepio is a evidence-based online insomnia treatment program that uses cognitive and behavioural techniques to help users improve their sleep and daytime functioning. RCTs have demonstrated that Sleepio improves sleep, mental health, and reduces use of sleeping pills. This trial will improve access to evidence-based care in general practice and for patients in regional, rural and remote settings.
