New book accompanies Hanrahan exhibition

Bee-stung lips: Barbara Hanrahan works on paper 1960-1991 – a new book published to accompany the current FUMA art exhibition – offers insight into Hanrahan’s oeuvre along with new scholarship that examines the artist’s personal concerns as they intersect with broader cultural and social issues.

Delving into Hanrahan’s recurring themes, motivations and motifs, the essays by exhibition curator Nic Brown and contributors Dr Jacqueline Milner (Associate Professor of Visual Arts, La Trobe University) and Elspeth Pitt (Curator, Australian Art, National Gallery of Australia) affirm the singularity of the artist’s vision and underscore its ongoing relevance in contemporary times.

The 120-page softcover book – published by Wakefield Press and selling for $39.95 – can be purchased from the Flinders University Museum of Art. Place your order by calling 08 8201 2695 or email.
