Celebrating success

An international lens has focused on Flinders University people, with Emmy Award nominations for alumnus TV producer Kirsty Stark and a documentary on an expedition attended by Associate Professor Charlie Huveneers. In other achievements, a new book has been published to help guide medical exam students.

International accolade for shark doco

700 Sharks, the award-winning documentary that focuses on a research expedition attended by Flinders University’s Associate Professor Charlie Huveneers, was recently awarded the Export Prize 2021 from the TV France International Export Awards. The documentary was also nominated for an Outstanding Cinematography: Documentary Emmy in the 40th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards.

New book to help students succeed

Professor Jonathan Gleadle, Associate Professor Jordan Li and Dr Paul Kleinig from the College of Medicine and Public Health have co-authored a new book that helps students prepare for the Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) exam. How to Pass the FRACP Written Examination is an up-to-date resource that fully aligns with the current FRACP core training curriculum and contains a wealth of traditional multiple-choice questions and extended-matching questions.

Emmy nomination for local TV production

Flinders alumnus Kirsty Stark has had her work on local TV show First Day recognised with an Emmy nomination in the 2021 International Emmy Awards. Kirsty was a producer on the series, and is a BCA (Screen) Honours 2007 alumni. First Day follows Hannah Bradford on her first year of high school. As a transgender girl, Hannah not only has to navigate challenges that come with starting at a new school but must also find the courage to live as her most authentic self.
