A trip to France from Bedford Park

Flinders staff at Bedford Park are being offered the opportunity to visit France through an interactive exhibit that is now open in the Studio, located near Grind and Press.

The international exhibition France eMotion – a joint initiative between Atout France and the Institut Français, and brought to Flinders by Dr Christele Maizonniaux – is a travelling art exhibition that celebrates new technologies through the work of four young international photographers to capture cultural sites across France.

The project features 35 original pieces that come alive through augmented reality, with the aim of sparking people’s curiosity around the world and inspiring them to (re)discover France’s rich cultural heritage.

To get the full experience, you’ll need to download the free France eMotion app, which is available for iOS and Android through the App Store and Google Play. Once you’ve downloaded the app, grant access to your device’s camera and enjoy the animated interactive experience.

In other French-related activities, Flinders Professor Stephen Muecke will be presenting his upcoming translated book, Our Grateful Dead, with a focus on the translating process from French to English and the challenges it presents. A Q&A session will follow the presentation of the book. For more information and to book your spot at the book launch from from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Friday 22 October at Alliance Française d’Adélaïde, click here.

Dr Romain Fathi is presenting a new history conference series with Alliance Francaise. The three-part series, which focuses on the French Revolution, covers the making of, causes and impacts of the revolution.   For bookings and more information about Part 2 of the series on 12 November – and Part 3 of the Series on 9 December – click here.
