Upgrades for Social Sciences North and FMC labs

Works across Flinders’ Bedford Park campus include creating a new accessible entryway for Social Sciences North and an upgrade for two labs at Flinders Medical Centre.

Construction of an accessible entryway to Social Sciences North

As part of a program to improve access around campus, an accessible ramp will be constructed at the entry to the Social Sciences North (SSN) building, located at the top of Humanities Road next to car park 5. These works will start in May and are expected to continue until July.

Temporary access parks will be created on the upper level of car park 5 so that people with access requirements can access SSN and Humanities directly via a ramp on the upper level leading to the SSN courtyard.

A detour will be in place from the lower level of the car park via the Laneway for people with access requirements heading to the Library, Plaza, Hub and beyond. Please note that the ramp from the lower level of the car park to the courtyard won’t be available while these works are in process.

For people with Australian National Disability parking permits or short-term support permits, please consider using access parks in nearby car parks 4 and 6 for the duration of the ramp construction to avoid disruption.

Lab upgrades in Flinders Medical Centre

Construction works will commence this week on two PC1 laboratories in Flinders Medical Centre – 6E410 and 6E412. Works will start on 27 April and will be completed in the first week of May. Some debris, dust, noise and vibration will occur in this area during these works. Please take care if moving through this area and follow any directions or signage in place.

Tree pruning – Lake Road

On Saturday 30 April, tree pruning will occur in and around the Lake Road area (see aerial map below, with the relevant trees pinned by yellow markers). The works will commence at 8am and are expected to be completed by 4pm.

Please take care and follow any signage or directions in place if you are on campus at this time.
