Award for Flinders disability activist

Flinders University public health researcher and PhD graduate Dr Betty-Jean (‘B-J’) Dee-Price has received a Women of Achievement Award from the Zonta Adelaide Club, part of a global organisation that works to advance the status of women world-wide.

Dr Dee-Price has been recognised for her research projects covering disability discrimination, ableism in schools, and breakdown in disability care.

The Zonta awards reception at the Adelaide Town Hall included awards to other ‘Emerging Leaders’ Tanya Hosch (for Sport and Indigenous Affairs) and Dr Michelle Perugini (Science and Innovation).

“The work of Zonta is very uplifting, especially in these troubled times,” says Dr Dee-Price. “I came away feeling safer about the world, knowing there are so many great women working for community betterment.”
