Flinders’ hugely successful Northern Territory Medical Program was front and centre during a visit by Opposition leader Anthony Albanese and a host of ALP members and candidates during a visit to Royal Darwin Hospital yesterday
The leader of the opposition was accompanied by Shadow Health Minister Mark Butler and Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers, the retiring member for Lingiari Warren Snowden, Marion Scrymgour who’s standing in seat of Lingiari, member for Solomon Luke Gosling, and Senator Malarndirri McCarthy.
The visitors heard first-hand some of the challenges of General Practice, the need for reform of Medicare, strengthening continuity of care and using engagement in learning as a quality measure.
There was a particular focus on the need to train all health care professionals in the communities where they’re most needed, with Flinders NTMP and our GP Training Program cited more than once for their effectiveness.
