Weed removal and construction on campus

Work around campus this week includes weed removal in car park 14 and continuing upgrades at Social Sciences North.

Weed removal in car park 14

Contractors will be removing woody weeds on the upper level of car park 14 on Saturday 4 June. We expect that work will start at 8am and continue until mid-late afternoon. The work will also generate noise and debris in the vicinity. Please take care if moving through this space on the day and follow any signage or directions.

To safely conduct this work, several car parks will be temporarily unavailable either side of the affected spaces. This includes two access parks, so please us access parking options in nearby car parks 18 and 13, and behind the eastern side of the Sturt East building.

Update on works in Social Sciences North

Learning space upgrades to SSN 102 and 242 are progressing, with fencing in place around the worksite. This means there is no access to the external stairs from Humanities Road and Courtyard to SSN Courtyard. Please walk through the SSN building foyer and use the lift or internal stairs. Note that the ramp from the upper level of car park 5 to the SSN courtyard remains open.

The following works are expected to take place this weekend:

  • Electrical service outage in SSN Level 1 – removal of electrical switchboard. This will affect rooms 105 and 106, and power won’t be available during this time.
  • Demolition of steps outside SSN 102 to begin the accessibility upgrade.

Most of these works will happen between 7am Saturday 4 June and 5pm Sunday 5 June, causing minor disruptions in the area during these times, including noise and vibration during demolition, restrictions to pedestrian access and electrical outages. Please take care within this area and follow any directions or signage in place. This project is expected to be completed by the end of July 2022.
