Correct sourcing of electrical equipment

Staff are reminded that purchases of electrical equipment for teaching or research purposes need to be quality brands sourced from Australian-based suppliers.

The Flinders Electrical Policy requires that all electrical equipment must be purchased from a reputable supplier, and warns against sourcing from dubious overseas sources – which often result in poor standards of workmanship and non-compliance. The result is that such products often need to be returned to the supplier or for expensive reworking to reach acceptable compliance standards.

Recently, items have been delivered with false CE compliance stickers, despite obvious signs that they were not in compliance with standards.

All items must have the RCM Tick, a mark which is recognised in Australia. The European CE mark is also acceptable. For any further queries, contact Flinders Maintenance Operations by emailing anthony.nabkey@flinders.edu.au
