Showcase supports Indigenous businesses

Mark Gregory, Vice-President Corporate Services, says the Flinders University Indigenous Business Showcase is an important step that Flinders University is taking to promote a strong and sustainable Indigenous business sector in the central corridor.

The inaugural Flinders University Indigenous Business Showcase is an fantastic opportunity to Flinders to be able to promote the Indigenous businesses we currently work with.

But that’s not all.

It’s also an opportunity to build new relationships – for Flinders, for Indigenous businesses, and for our industry and government partners.

We’ve invited these groups to our Bedford Park campus next Wednesday 19 April so we can all come together in one spot to learn, engage, and network – together.

And we’d love for you to join us.

If you are involved with any form of procurement or in doing business with external partners as part of your role, this will be a chance for you to meet a range of potential suppliers across a variety of industries all in one spot.

It will also be a chance for Flinders University staff and students to network with some leading Indigenous businesses who are doing great things up and down the central corridor.

We’ve been working closely with Supply Nation, Australia’s leading advocate of Indigenous businesses in the supplier diversity space. It has been a great opportunity for us to learn from a business that has been championing Indigenous business for years and has shown us that a collaborative approach is key to making lasting impact.

This Showcase would not have been possible without the work and efforts of some key teams across the University. My sincere thanks and appreciation to Anna Schkabaryn and the team from the Office of Indigenous Student Engagement and David Paterson and the Procurement Services Team for all their hard work and dedication to get this Showcase off the ground.

The Indigenous Business Showcase is part of the 2023 RAP Conference, three days of important events that will offer staff the chance to connect, learn and engage with Reconciliation at Flinders.

I strongly encourage staff to sign up to as many RAP Conference events as their schedule allows.
