Congratulations to Flinders University’s latest graduates who took part in ceremonies held in Tianjin and Beijing last week.
Flinders University’s ongoing partnership with Nankai University in Tianjin was celebrated with an alumni dinner and graduation ceremony attended by over 500 graduates and their families. Joined by Nankai University President Professor CHEN Yulu, Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling congratulated graduates from the three joint programs (Master of Arts in International Relations – Economy and Trade, Master of Hospital Administration and a Master of Educational Leadership and Management) who crossed the stage to receive their testamurs.

After formal proceedings, Professor Stirling and a delegation of Flinders representatives sat down with key Nankai personnel, including Professor CHEN Yulu, to reflect on the successful running of the joint program for almost two and a half decades. They also discussed the many opportunities on offer with the partnership, including expanding across disciplines such as marine, health, agriculture, science and engineering, which are areas of strength for both Flinders and Nankai.

The celebrations continued in Beijing at the Flinders University and Capital Normal University graduation ceremony, which saw around 150 students from 2018 – 2022 graduate from the joint Master of Education program. This year’s event was a milestone occasion, as the two institutions celebrated the 20th anniversary of the leading international partnership. For over two decades, Flinders and CNU have worked in partnership to deliver the Master of Education, which has produced over 800 graduates.

Following on from last year’s signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, Flinders and Capital Normal are working to expand the partnership to establish more joint Master programs, and offer direct entry into selected Master programs for graduates of CNU undergraduate degrees.
