Room bookings for Sturt East

Room bookings, and approvals for room bookings, in the Sturt East building have got a whole lot easier, thanks to the collaborative effort of teams from PFD, CSE, IDS and NHS.

When booking spaces in the building, the process of gaining approval has been simplified – now, when you choose a space, the form pushes for supervisor approval which can only be selected from staff associated with the location. This ensures staff with an approval role are suitably aligned both with the applicant and with the space for which they are seeking access. Previously, supervisor approval could be granted from the all staff list, not just those responsible for the space, making the process confusing and unreliable.

The new process ensures that staff and students have appropriate access to rooms in Sturt East, and improves the workflow of the room access application in ServiceOne. It will also help ensure that security for certain spaces – in particular lab spaces – is maintained, with only those requiring/permitted access being able to book the spaces. It will also improve quality assurance in terms of safety (including WHS) when accessing lab spaces, lab preparation areas and other spaces with expensive and delicate equipment and consumables.
