A new risk-predictive bowel cancer test

Congratulations Dr Martha Menburu on receiving the Dr Sarah Barlow Bowel Cancer Foundation Research Grant! Martha has been awarded a $50,000 Research Grant for her project on developing a new risk-predictive microbiome test for young adults with the aim of identifying those at higher risk of bowel cancer or pre-cancerous colorectal polyps. This project, conducted alongside Associate Professor Erin Symonds and Dr Renee Smith of South Australian Genomics Centre aims to develop a new microbiome-based risk-prediction test to assess young adults’ risk of bowel cancer and improving prevention and detection efforts. This grant supports the Foundation’s vision to advance early diagnosis and treatments of bowel cancer in young individuals.
