Sturt lifts outages and access update

Lift access to upper levels of Sturt buildings has temporarily changed while the Sturt North and Sturt South lifts are closed for repairs.

If you’re working at or visiting Sturt, you can either use the stairs to access floors, or for lift access to the following levels:

• 1 – please call Security on 8201 2880 for access via the Sturt Library lifts
• 2 and 3 – use the Sturt Library lift or Sturt East lift
• 4 – there is no lift access.

Sturt South lift repairs are expected in late October and Sturt North lift replacement works are ongoing until the end of the year. Please contact Security on 8201 2880 for access assistance.

 

Social Science North temporary building closure

On Saturday 25 October, the Social Sciences North building and courtyard will be closed to allow a concrete truck to pump concrete and pour the external stairs on both sides of the courtyard. Staff and students can access the SSN building using the accessible path through Humanities/FUMA.

The building and courtyard will reopen on Sunday 26 October.

We expect the stairs and retaining wall to be completed by 15 November. Please continue to follow all diversions as directed on signs.

 

Accessible toilet works

Between Monday 27 and Friday 31 October, Accessible/Unisex toilet door widths in select buildings are being adjusted. During works, facilities will be closed.  Please use the alternate toilets as marked below and follow directions on signage.

Electrical upgrade works on Humanities Road

From Monday 27 to Friday 31 October, the northern section of Humanities Road between Oasis/Café Bon Voyage/The Laneway and the back of the Central Library will be closed for electrical works. Works will allow us to complete the new loading bays on Humanities Road next to the Drama Centre.

Pedestrian access will be maintained between Oasis/Café Bon Voyage/The Laneway and car park 5 will not be impacted.

 

Occupational Therapy Clinical Skills space works at Sturt

Works are underway to refurbish an existing office space on level 4 of the Sturt West building. The new facility will replicate a real-life environment in a person’s home. This will help prepare OT students to work across settings such as homes, hospitals and clinics. Until works are completed, please follow directions on signage around work zones around Sturt West rooms 401, 401A and 401B and Sturt South room 115. Due to lift works at Sturt, completion of this project is expected at the end of November 2025.
