Equity and engagement in online learning

Flinders University’s Learning & Teaching Innovation (LTI) team is excited to invite you to an engaging online workshop on how to foster equity and engagement in online learning, with a focus on the active facilitation of online asynchronous topics. This two-hour session will take place on Friday, 21 November 2025, from 10am to 12noon, and is designed for academics, and anyone passionate about creating inclusive and engaging online learning experiences.

What to expect

The first half will be a thought-provoking presentation by Associate Professor Cathy Stone from the University of Newcastle. Drawing on her extensive research and experience, Cathy will share practical strategies for fostering equity and engagement in online learning environments, exploring how universities can better support diverse student cohorts and improve online learning outcomes.

The second half of the session will be a workshop-style session with LTI staff, with the opportunity for you to workshop your topic and challenges as well as engaging with examples and current practices. This is a fantastic opportunity to consider your own topic, exchange ideas, ask questions, and gain actionable insights to enhance your own teaching.
