Join the fun! Students are back for 2022

Semester 1 Orientation is upon us, and we’re delighted to see the return of some orientation activities back on campus from next week, providing a personalised welcome to our students after a few recent years of disruption.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Students Romy Lawson says she’s looking forward to being part of the experience. “I encourage staff to be part of the re-activation of campus. It will be fantastic to see Flinders rekindling the on-campus vibrancy for which it is renowned,” she says.

“It will be great to see our international students joining us and contributing to our rich social and learning environment.

“I’ll be out and about over the coming month to meet and greet students, hear feedback on how we can make the 2022 academic year an excellent experience, and share my thoughts on making the most of our teaching and learning opportunities, both on campus and online.

“As someone new to Flinders, I’m looking forward to seeing the campus become more dynamic and colourful – albeit in a COVID-safe manner, with masks and distancing. As you know, we’re currently seeking student feedback on a vaccination policy which, if introduced, would mean that on-campus activities would be open to vaccinated students.”

Professor Lawson says the four-week Orientation program at Flinders University commences next week, covering the basics of starting student life at university, through to making friends, managing uni life and developing great study habits. For those unable to attend campus, the provision of online orientation activities will ensure they don’t miss out on any important information.

Visit the orientation site and planner for more information about events and activities available to students:

Individual Flinders College and course welcome events will take place next week, with recordings of the sessions posted via the Orientation Video Library, within three business days of the online event.

A student communications campaign is underway, with new students receiving communications through a range of channels over the coming days and weeks, including Ping! articles, email, FLO announcements, digital signage and social media.
