Join us on Thursday 6 March 2025 to celebrate the achievements of women in celebration of International Women’s Day, and to March Forward towards a gender equal future.
In honour of this year’s theme to ‘March Forward’ all staff and students are invited to take part in the March Forward Lake Walk and quiz from 11.30am for a chance to win a major prize.
From 12pm, join guest speakers, including Emily Korir (GradCertDisSt ‘16), Author of ‘Against All Odds: A journey of resilience, identity and success’ and Chief Executive Officer, BET Group Global PTY Ltd. Find out more about how UniSuper is committed to gender equity and building greater retirements for all or check out the Flinders University Students Association stand.
At the event you will have the opportunity to help women reach their potential by donating to the University’s Jessie Cooper Scholarship for Women. The scholarship honours the first woman elected to State Parliament and provides financial assistance to mature-age women who face financial or personal circumstances that prevent them from completing their degree.
We also invite guests to bring along an item from the Treasure Boxes’ monthly wishlist to donate on the day.
On-campus gatherings will also be organised at some other campuses. Register your interest by selecting your preferred location on registration.
If you are not able to attend in person you can join the event via livestream.
‘March Forward’ is the UN Women Australia’s official theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, commemorating 30 years since the United Nation’s Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action for achieving gender equality.
Since 1995, women have broken barriers, reshaped policies, and ignited powerful movements worldwide. But despite these advances, millions of women and girls still face systemic inequalities, rising violence, and economic disparities that hold them back from reaching their full potential.
This event has been co-sponsored by UniSuper and the Flinders University Students Association.
