Flinders marches forward

In celebration of International Women’s Day, staff and students across our campuses came together to March Forward towards a gender-equal future.

In honour of this year’s theme, March Forward, staff and students participated in the March Forward Lake Walk and a quiz, highlighting the incredible achievements and contributions of women at Flinders.

Hosted by Council member Lucinda Hewitson, attendees heard from inspiring speakers, including:

  • Emily Korir (GradCertDisSt ‘16), a stroke survivor who has turned her harrowing personal experiences into a mission to champion people with disabilities.
  • Lily Waltham, FUSA Women’s Officer, highlighting initiatives at Flinders, including efforts to tackle period poverty with free period products, the Be a Better Human campaign, and the Jessie Cooper Scholarship.
  • Mark Schultz, Director, People and Culture, sharing the latest initiatives introduced to support and advance women in our workforce throughout their careers.

We’re proud to celebrate the inspiring women as part of our community including students, staff, academics, researchers and alumni.
