{"id":18522,"date":"2022-05-24T12:14:46","date_gmt":"2022-05-24T02:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/?p=18522"},"modified":"2022-05-24T15:28:44","modified_gmt":"2022-05-24T05:58:44","slug":"flinders-university-celebrates-reconciliation-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/2022\/05\/24\/flinders-university-celebrates-reconciliation-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Flinders University celebrates Reconciliation Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Flinders University will commemorate National Reconciliation Week with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/engage\/culture\/national-reconciliation-week\">series of events hosted on campus and online<\/a>, and the entire Flinders community is invited to take part to mark significant milestones achieved along our nation\u2019s reconciliation journey.<\/p>\n<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-37ea7a9 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"37ea7a9\">\n<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n<div class=\"elementor-row\">\n<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-673495e\" data-id=\"673495e\">\n<div class=\"elementor-column-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap\">\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f6173df elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f6173df\">\n<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reconciliation.org.au\/our-work\/national-reconciliation-week\/\">National Reconciliation Week<\/a> is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The week of celebrations will commence with a screening of Uncle Lewis and Uncle Mickey performing a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony in the Plaza at Bedford Park from noon, <strong>Friday 27 May<\/strong>. This will be followed by a rerun on the big screen of the Elder Forum Padninthiyangga Ngadluku Purkgku \u2013 Walking with our Elders Forum October 2020, Leadership \u2013 From the Elders\u2019 Perspective.<\/p>\n<p>The Central Library will present <em>Sharing History and Culture: Flinders Library First Nations Collection <\/em>throughout the week, starting on <strong>Friday 27 May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>From 11am on <strong>Monday 30 May<\/strong>, students will be able to grab a free donut from the Hub, before National Indigenous Television (NITV)<em>\u00a0<\/em>plays on the big screen in the Plaza from noon.<\/p>\n<p>The latest Fearless Conversation, on Reconciliation for our Future, will play on the big screen from noon on <strong>Tuesday 31 May<\/strong>. The Flinders University Museum of Art will introduce the works of First Nations artists in the current exhibition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com.au\/e\/exhibition-tour-the-data-imaginary-fears-and-fantasies-tickets-336939303527\">FUMA Workshops &#8211; The Data Imaginary: Fears and Fantasies<\/a>, also from noon. In the evening, staff and students are invited to attend the <span class=\"rte-custom-style__font-family--circular-medium\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dunstan.org.au\/events\/lowitja-odonoghue-oration-2022\/\">Lowitja O\u2019Donoghue Oration 2022<\/a>, which begins at 6.30pm in Bonython Hall, University of Adelaide. The Flinders community can access <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/2022\/05\/17\/half-price-tix-to-lowitja-odonoghue-oration\/?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Flinders%20in%20Touch%20-%2017%20May&amp;utm_content=Flinders%20in%20Touch%20-%2017%20May+CID_643869b948a1d2dfa840c17816421730&amp;utm_source=Email%20marketing&amp;utm_term=Read%20more\">half price tickets to the Oration via this link.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>On\u00a0<strong>Wednesday 1 June<\/strong>, the big screen will play <em>TED Talk: The Myth of Aboriginal Stories Being Myths<\/em> by Flinders graduate Jacinta Koolmatrie.<\/p>\n<p><em>Padninthiyangga Ngadluku Purkgku \u2013 Walking with our Elders Forum March 2021, Knowledge of the Land: Speaking for Country<\/em> will screen on <strong>Friday 3 June<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To close out the week, Reconciliation SA will host <em><a href=\"https:\/\/reconciliationsa.org.au\/event\/nguyanguya-muri-wamangka-reconciliation-in-the-park\/\">Nguyanguya muri wamangka: Reconciliation in the Park<\/a>, <\/em>on <strong>Friday 3 June<\/strong> from 4pm to 9.30pm at Pinky Flat, Tarntanya Wama, in the heart of Adelaide, beside the Torrens Lake.
