Flinders University will commemorate National Reconciliation Week with a series of events hosted on campus and online<\/a>, and the entire Flinders community is invited to take part to mark significant milestones achieved along our nation\u2019s reconciliation journey.<\/p>\n

National Reconciliation Week<\/a> is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.<\/p>\n

The week of celebrations will commence with a screening of Uncle Lewis and Uncle Mickey performing a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony in the Plaza at Bedford Park from noon, Friday 27 May<\/strong>. This will be followed by a rerun on the big screen of the Elder Forum Padninthiyangga Ngadluku Purkgku \u2013 Walking with our Elders Forum October 2020, Leadership \u2013 From the Elders\u2019 Perspective.<\/p>\n

The Central Library will present Sharing History and Culture: Flinders Library First Nations Collection <\/em>throughout the week, starting on Friday 27 May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

From 11am on Monday 30 May<\/strong>, students will be able to grab a free donut from the Hub, before National Indigenous Television (NITV)\u00a0<\/em>plays on the big screen in the Plaza from noon.<\/p>\n

The latest Fearless Conversation, on Reconciliation for our Future, will play on the big screen from noon on Tuesday 31 May<\/strong>. The Flinders University Museum of Art will introduce the works of First Nations artists in the current exhibition, FUMA Workshops – The Data Imaginary: Fears and Fantasies<\/a>, also from noon. In the evening, staff and students are invited to attend the Lowitja O\u2019Donoghue Oration 2022<\/a>, which begins at 6.30pm in Bonython Hall, University of Adelaide. The Flinders community can access half price tickets to the Oration via this link.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

On\u00a0Wednesday 1 June<\/strong>, the big screen will play TED Talk: The Myth of Aboriginal Stories Being Myths<\/em> by Flinders graduate Jacinta Koolmatrie.<\/p>\n

Padninthiyangga Ngadluku Purkgku \u2013 Walking with our Elders Forum March 2021, Knowledge of the Land: Speaking for Country<\/em> will screen on Friday 3 June<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To close out the week, Reconciliation SA will host Nguyanguya muri wamangka: Reconciliation in the Park<\/a>, <\/em>on Friday 3 June<\/strong> from 4pm to 9.30pm at Pinky Flat, Tarntanya Wama, in the heart of Adelaide, beside the Torrens Lake. This is a free, outdoor, family-friendly event for all to enjoy on the final day of National Reconciliation Week, celebrating the 2022 theme “Be Brave, Make Change”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
