Professor Murray Drummond<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Professor Murray Drummond<\/a> has been appointed to the State Government’s new Women in Sport taskforce, working to raise the profile and participation levels of girls and women in sport and to address inequality that inhibits girls and women from actively and equally participating in the sport they love.<\/p>\n

The taskforce was established after Flinders University research<\/a> found South Australian girls are likely to quit sport from Years 10 to 12, as study and work are prioritised over sporting commitments.<\/p>\n

Presidential award for groundwater expert<\/strong><\/p>\n

Congratulations to Professor Craig Simmons<\/a> who has been awarded the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH)\u00a0 Presidents’ Award at the association’s recent Annual Public Meeting.<\/p>\n

The award recognises Professor Simmons as a leading authority on groundwater and water science.<\/p>\n

The IAH is a scientific and educational charitable organisation for scientists, engineers, water managers and other professionals working in the fields of groundwater resource planning, management and protection.<\/p>\n

Seamus Doherty<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

PhD candidate with the Global Ecology Lab<\/a> Seamus Doherty has been named the winner of the CABAH Visualise Your Thesis (VYT) competition for 2022.\u00a0With his win in the national VYT competition, Seamus will now compete in the International VYT Competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n

National recognition for PhD candidate<\/strong><\/p>\n

Third year PhD candidate Maoge (Lawrence) Zang has been awarded the student prize at the 2022 Australian Bacterial Pathogenesis Meeting (BacPath2022)<\/a> in Brisbane. Lawrence is studying microbial membrane biosynthesis in the Eijkelkamp Lab.<\/p>\n

BacPath<\/a> is Australia’s premier biennial molecular bacteriology meeting that has an exclusive focus on bacterial pathogens. They explore the full spectrum of molecular microbiology from fundamental research to translational applications.<\/p>\n

Grads take to the sea in new docuseries<\/strong><\/p>\n

Flinders graduates Dr Deb Shefi and Dr Ross Anderson join ocean adventurers as they dive deep to find – and bring to life – some of the world\u2019s most epic shipwreck stories in a new Disney+ series. A locally commissioned series, Shipwreck Hunters Australia<\/em><\/a> takes viewers on an epic expedition from the comfort of their living rooms and premiered on the streaming channel last week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
