The grants, worth $5 million each, will be administered by UNSW Sydney and the University of Adelaide respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/tamara.mackean\">Associate Professor Tamara Mackean<\/a> from the College of Medicine and Public Health as part of her conjoint position with the George Institute for Global Health, the first project aims to reform the development and delivery of hospital care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by addressing implicit bias and institutional racism within Australian hospitals. The project also features <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/tirritpa.ritchie\">Tirritpa Ritchie<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/jonathan.karnon\">Professor Jonathan Karnon<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/courtney.ryder\">Dr Courtney Ryder<\/a> as Associate Investigators. You can read more about the project <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.unsw.edu.au\/news\/health\/unsw-researchers-awarded-15-million-nhmrc-synergy-grants\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The second grant, featuring Flinders&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/claire.roberts\">Professor Claire Roberts<\/a> as Chief Investigator B and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/anya.arthurs\">Dr Anya Arthurs<\/a> as an Associate Investigator, will study interactions between cells of the early placenta and the mother\u2019s uterus to gain new knowledge into the first weeks of human development in a bid to reduce infertility and pregnancy complications.
