{"id":21182,"date":"2023-07-03T15:07:22","date_gmt":"2023-07-03T05:37:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/?p=21182"},"modified":"2023-07-03T15:17:23","modified_gmt":"2023-07-03T05:47:23","slug":"dr-dooley-returns-to-flinders-homeland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/2023\/07\/03\/dr-dooley-returns-to-flinders-homeland\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Dooley returns to Flinders&#8217; homeland"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Dr Gillian Dooley, an Honorary Associate Professor in English Literature at Flinders University and expert on the life of Captain Matthew Flinders, recently visited Flinders&#8217; homeland in Lincolnshire and spoke about her various works on the life and writings of Flinders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-21185 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2023\/07\/download-300x183.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2023\/07\/download-300x183.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2023\/07\/download-768x468.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2023\/07\/download.png 853w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>She visited Boston, the nearest city to Donington (where Flinders was born in 1774) on the Lincolnshire coast, and spoke to an audience of more than 100 people attached to a very active University of the Third Age group.
