Outstanding optometry work earns praise<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jacqui Warren and Associater Professor Jason Booth AM<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Jacqui Warren<\/a>, a senior lecturer and Placement Coordinator within the School of Optometry and Vision Science at Flinders University, and Associate Professor Jason Booth AM<\/a>, Course Coordinator in Optometry, have been named as finalists in the Optometry Victoria South Australia Optometrist of the Year Award. This award is designed to recognise a member who has made an outstanding commitment to the profession over the past year, through innovation, initiative or demonstrated care. Jacqui ran Australia\u2019s first optometrist-led clinic at a public hospital ophthalmology department in Modbury and recently established a collaborative model of care designed to bridge the gap between community-based eye care and hospital-based services to reduce the burden on the public health system.<\/p>\n

Flinders CHAP team sweeps awards<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Country Heart Attack Prevention (CHAP) team<\/a> starred at the Australian Cardiovascular Health & Rehabilitation Association (ACRA) Annual Scientific Meeting<\/a>, held at the end of July. Professor Robyn Clark<\/a>, Kate Nesbitt<\/a>, Dr Joyce Ramos<\/a>, Lemlem Gebremichael<\/a> and Dr Norma Bulamu<\/a> all presented at the conference, while Professor Jeroen Hendriks<\/a> served as a facilitator throughout the conference.<\/p>\n

Two presentations given by CHAP team members were recognised with awards given out at the meeting. Lemlem won the Research Prize Session and People’s Choice for Best Research for her presentation on ‘Low evidence-based pharmacotherapy prescription for patients discharged after an acute coronary syndrome: presents an important opportunity for prescribers before cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention programs’, while Dr Bulamu won the Clinical Excellent Showcase award for her presentation ‘An Innovative Business model using established Medicare items for delivery of cardiac rehabilitation \u2013 a value proposition for primary care’.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
