{"id":22972,"date":"2024-05-14T09:25:51","date_gmt":"2024-05-13T23:55:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/?p=22972"},"modified":"2024-05-14T09:25:51","modified_gmt":"2024-05-13T23:55:51","slug":"improving-our-space-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/2024\/05\/14\/improving-our-space-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Improving our space"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Electrical Maintenance at Bedford Park in May\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To meet mandatory compliance obligations and keep everyone safe, the essential electrical safety maintenance team will service the following buildings during May:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Engineering (Sir Eric Neal Building).<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Information Science and Technology Building.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Science Innovation and Learning Centre.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Earth Sciences.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Nature Education &amp; Research Facility (formerly Biodiversity).<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_paragraph\"><span class=\"x_normaltextrun\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Biology Discovery Centre.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"x_eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Safety Switch testing will be conducted between midnight and 8:00am, involving a short power outage. Test &amp; Tag of electrical appliance will be conducted both after hours and during business hours. It requires your appliances to be available and powered down for a few minutes.<\/p>\n<p><u>What do you need to do?<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Save your work before you leave each day, and if you keep appliances in secure cupboards\/rooms, please contact <a href=\"mailto:pram.kalubowila@flinders.edu.au\">Pram Kalubowila<\/a> to arrange a time to have them tested. If you manage <strong>power sensitive or critical equipment<\/strong> and require specific timing arrangements to minimise impact, <strong>please contact <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:pram.kalubowila@flinders.edu.au\">Pram Kalubowila.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Tonsley car park 3 repairs<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Car park 3 is being closed on Monday May 20 for works. The car park, located on the southern-most tip of the Tonsley Innovation District, is primarily used by TAFE students, however its closure will increase pressure on other car parks, so please consider catching public transport and utilising the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/campus\/bedford-park\/location\/loop-bus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\">campus bus services<\/a> to and from Bedford Park and Sturt campuses, if you usually park at Tonsley.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registry building refurbishments<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reconfiguration of office accommodation in the Professional Services and Registry buildings continues. The objective of these works is to optimise space, enabling both co-location and growth of teams within the Office of the Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>The refurbishment of room 117 on level 1 of the Registry building is nearly complete with the International Call Centre team moving in soon, allowing for co-location of the growing International Services team. Refurbishment of multiple rooms on level 2 including the Alumni and Advancement space are now also underway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Improvements to CSE and car park 7\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Works are progressing well on the new ground floor undergraduate science lab and the roof renewal\/stormwater upgrade in and around Physical Sciences and car park 7. If you work in CSE buildings, check out the updates on the <a href=\"https:\/\/flinders.sharepoint.com\/sites\/CSE_Central\">CSE Central SharePoint page<\/a>.
