{"id":23826,"date":"2024-11-12T12:03:15","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T01:33:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/?p=23826"},"modified":"2024-11-12T15:40:56","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T05:10:56","slug":"new-arc-grants-for-flinders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/2024\/11\/12\/new-arc-grants-for-flinders\/","title":{"rendered":"New ARC grants for Flinders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three Flinders University projects will now get underway, having seen recent success with funding from the Australian Research Council (ARC).<\/p>\n<p>Under the <a href=\"https:\/\/rms.arc.gov.au\/RMS\/Report\/Download\/Report\/1b0c8b2e-7bb0-4f2d-8f52-ad207cfbb41d\/269\">ARC Linkage Projects<\/a> scheme, grand visions for broad social reform and environmental research efforts will get underway in 2025, with two Flinders University-led projects to be supported and co-funded by a range of government, not-for-profit, private and university partners.<\/p>\n<p>One project led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/svetlana.bogomolova\">Professor Svetlana Bogomolova<\/a>, from Flinders University\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/centre-for-social-impact\">Centre for Social Impact<\/a>, will work with social, health and community sectors to develop a new \u2018social prescribing\u2019 model to \u201ctackle growing unmet social needs of people experiencing disadvantage\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/martin.breed\">Associate Professor Martin Breed<\/a>, from the College of Science and Engineering, will lead a project to expand on a proven system to more sustainably revegetate large areas of environmentally denuded land in south-western Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The third project, funded by the ARC&#8217;s 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arc.gov.au\/funding-research\/funding-schemes\/linkage-program\/linkage-infrastructure-equipment-and-facilities\">Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities scheme<\/a>, will see the establishment of the Australian Microarchaeological and Palaeosciences Facility (AusMAP), giving researchers greater capacity to analyse our past at the microscopic level.<\/p>\n<p>Led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/mike.morley\">Associate Professor Mike Morley<\/a> from the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, AusMAP will be the first of its kind in the world and will position Australia at the very forefront of micro-scale data generation, aiming to revolutionise the ways scientists address key questions and grand challenges in the fields of archaeology, palaeontology and the geosciences.<\/p>\n<p>You can read more about AusMAP <a href=\"https:\/\/news.flinders.edu.au\/blog\/2024\/11\/12\/new-facility-to-use-the-micro-realm-to-understand-the-past\/\">here<\/a>, and the other successfully funded Linkage projects <a href=\"https:\/\/news.flinders.edu.au\/blog\/2024\/11\/12\/arc-funding-for-new-land-and-social-models\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flinders.edu.au\/people\/raymond.chan\">Professor Ray Chan<\/a>, says the latest ARC grants cap off another positive year of growth in Flinders University research income and achievements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to head into 2025 at the forefront of Australian research looking to address and solve some of our most pressing problems, including on the community, health and environmental frontiers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn particular, the ARC Linkage projects allow our experts and scientists to engage with partners who are able to help develop and then adopt these new systems and vital developments in real time.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three Flinders University projects will now get underway, having seen recent success with funding from the Australian Research Council (ARC).
