{"id":25154,"date":"2025-11-25T08:47:22","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T22:17:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/?p=25154"},"modified":"2025-11-25T08:47:22","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T22:17:22","slug":"improving-our-space-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.flinders.edu.au\/fit\/2025\/11\/25\/improving-our-space-20\/","title":{"rendered":"Improving our space"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><i data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">It\u2019s a busy time around our campuses with Student Hub flooring replacement on levels 1 and 2, Humanities Road works resuming, rooftop lightning protection \u2013 plus truck, bus stop, carpet cleaning and project news!\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Level 1 and 2 Student Hub flooring works<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">From Monday 1 December, flooring replacement works will commence on the first and second floor of the Student Hub. The work will be completed in four stages until Friday 6 February 2026.<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The first stage of works runs from Monday 1 to Friday 19 December on the northeastern end of the second floor.\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">There will be no access via the northern stairs and lift between level 1 and level 2, however the southern lift and stairs remain open.<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">There will be no level 2 access between the Library and the Student Hub, however access on level 1 remains open.\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Wildernest and Alere Function Rooms remain open and accessible via the southern lift and stairs.<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Please follow directions and diversions as marked on signs \u2013 noting the access will change as work progresses to subsequent stages.<\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Humanities Road pedestrian crossing works resume<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Upgrade works have resumed this week on the intersection adjacent Oasis and The Laneway. The northern portion of Humanities Road (behind the Central Library) is closed for electrical works in the rear Library car park. This will be followed by civil works on the road. Works continue until Friday 19 December.<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Lightning Protection update<\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">From Monday 1 to Wednesday 10 December, you may see workers on the Health Sciences Lecture Theatre and Health Sciences building roof tops. They are installing the lightning rods and down conductors and connecting to the grid.<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Access via the bridge between the Health Sciences Building (level 1) and the Lecture Theatre (level 3) will be closed during works.<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Truck in Registry Road accessible bays<\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">From 5pm on Thursday 28 to early on Saturday 30 November, CSIRO\u2019s Science truck will be on campus, parked across the accessible bays adjacent to the Alan Mitchell Building\/Flinders Sport and Fitness. Please park in alternate accessible bays during this time, which will be allocated and signposted on the upper level of car park 6.<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Bus stop refurbishment<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Do you commute to\/from university and use bus stop 26A on University Drive (opposite Sturt Drive)?\u00a0The bus stop is having a facelift from Tuesday 2 to Friday 12 December \u2013 including painting, cleaning, reroofing and new safety glass.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">During work, the stop will be fenced off, and Adelaide Metro will set up temporary stops right next door. Work will provide two collaborative learning spaces on level 4 and a computer lab on level 5.<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>SSN Courtyard works update<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The footpath and pedestrian access works wrap up this week with new steps on the southern and northern sides, handrails, paving and landings in place.\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Refurbishment of Occupational Therapy Clinical Skills space completed<\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Works to refurbish the Occupational Therapy Clinical Skills facilities on level 4 at Sturt are now complete.
